The past week has been blissfull. I didn't lift a weight, do cardio, eat healthy- none of it! I rediscovered my love of crafting, eating, and laughing. Things I couldn't do when I was training for the competition. There are a few things I discovered about myself during the last show. I don't like being on stage. The whole REASON people compete is to show the world their hard work. While I'm not saying it's bad, it's just not where I am right now. I don't want to miss another meal. I don't want to bust butt for 12 weeks to have it come down to a subjective opinion. I don't want to be a fitness model, and I don't want to be the 'face' of a product.
I want to be fit, healthy, strong and happy. I can achieve that without wearing a sparkly bikini and 5" heels. In addition, my coach suggested I diet through the off season to help lean out my legs. Blargh. No more dieting. No more obsessing over my body parts. For now I'm backing out of the competition scene. There are other athletic things I'd like to try-mainly road races.
So here's the current schedule:
December 15- http://www.jinglejog.com 5K. I'm not really going to worry about time here, just finishing the whole thing running and ending up feet below head. I'm going to ask my girls' bootcamp to run the kids' run too.
January 1- Resolution run 5K, sponsored by ATC. It's only $5 and it's at 12:20!
January 25- Polar Bear Run 5K, a super fast course starting and finishing at Johnsons' Ferry Baptist Church. It's always so freaking cold and they have a polar icee machine at the end! Another great one for the kids.
February 9- Chattahoochee Challenge 10K. (eep!) This is my first 10K. I've run well over that amount before, but never in a race.
March 16 Shamrock and Roll 10K in Atlantic Station http://www.shamrocknroll.org/10k It's a Peachtree qualifier, the finish is downhill and there's alot to look at!
March 30 ING Georgia Half Marathon.
http://www.INGGeorgiamarathon.com This is the long term goal #1. There are a few of my clients running it so there will be alot of familiar faces. I'm so excited for this!
Other races I'd like to do:
Peachtree 10K
An Xterra trail run http://www.ditchthecity.com
And maybe an out of town race or two!
My current training schedule is:
M-W-F- Boot camps in the morning (sprints, drills, lunges, etc) and Weight training
T-TH 3 miles running, increasing each week
Sa/Su Long run. My goal for this weekend is 4 miles nonstop. Shouldn't be too hard, but I'd rather finish it with something left over instead of feeling like poo at the end.
Training today is finished. I'm guessing I run between 2-3 miles cumulative between the camp (including speed/hills) and I lifted weights today; back and arms. My body still looks pretty lean despite the mass amounts of sugar and lack of protein I've been feeding it after the show. I'm going to weight myself too. Tomorrow! ;)
On the craft front I'm working on a Holiday granny square. It's like a pointsetta thingy. It's cute!
Xavier's napping and I should be too. I woke up at 4:40 this morning to make the boys cinnamon rolls for breakfast before I went to boot camp/work. I've got kids' camp, an hour break, and another bootcamp. I think during the break I'll work on my scarves for christmas.
