(From Xavier's 3rd B-day party) I had to bribe my husband to come to Chuck E Cheese with me and the boys tonight.
You see, he had a meeting this morning down by Emory and I had to drag two stinky boys to karate in the rain. Xan came upstairs and said "I hate Saturdays. It means I have to go to karate".
How many times have we been to karate on a Saturday? ONE. He wanted to play his video game and was acting a fool to avoid it.
Once we made it (10 minutes late) Xan had a mystery headache. The location of the headache moved around too. Darnedest thing! He told me he wanted to go home instead of karate. (Xavier goes first) I said "Fine-- no computer, games, jumping around, Target or anything else fun. Only medicine, bed and sleep." A miraculous thing happened- he felt better! He asked if we could go to Chuck E as a family. I told him I'd think about it.
So I had to drag my husband, kicking and screaming to Chuck E. Where was he 3/4 of the time? Playing a shooting game with Xan until they finished the whole thing! For somebody who hates CHuck E he sure had a great time!
I ran into a member of the old gym I used to train. She worked with another trainer who- let's just say- I had my differences with. She did the typical thing women in this area does- sat on her ass while her 5 year old twins terrorized the place. At one point, she- along with 2 other Moms- pulled out magazines to ensure they were completely unaware of what their children were up to. Here I was, sweating while playing basketball with Xavier (had my best score ever! Woo-Hoo!) and they were on their asses.
Your kids would rather play with you than anyone else when they're 5. Enjoy it now- soon they'll be teenagers!
