Why I don't watch chick flicks reason #2358345

The Notebook was on TV last night. (I've owned this movie for almost 2 years but I just never could get into it) My boys were all asleep or watching Scooby Doo for the millionth time and nothing else was on so I watched it as I finished up a crocheted pillow.

I wasn't very far into the movie when I started to freaking SOB. Not a tear running down my cheek but a WAILING sobbing UGLY cry. I cried so much so hard I woke up with a headache.

In my old age and state of mind I need to revise my views on 'chick flicks'. Love stories should be a sub-category to chick flicks. I'll watch a love story, as long as I have enough tissues.

There were so many quotes in this movie that brought me to blubbering.

Duke (to his adult children): Look, guys. That's my sweetheart in there. I'm not leaving her. This is my home now. Your mother is my home.

Excerpt from a letter from Noah to Allie: The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that's what you've given me. That's what I'd hoped to give you forever.

As I left work one day this week, the club had an event in one of the banquet rooms. I glanced inside as I walked by and saw a very elderly couple dancing close and holding hands. I came home and told my old man "One day that will be us". He of course answered a wise assed "No, I don't dance". But he smiled and gave me a hug, which is as good as a yes to me.
