Extra Virgin Olive Oil for those who don't do the Rachel Ray speak. Do you know she's orginally from the same area I grew up? Thankfully my accent isn't as annoying. At least I don't THINK it is.

Anywho...

My oldest was having an extremely ADD day. And he's allowed since he's ADD.

First came the homework.

Me: You didn't write 3 of your spelling words

Him: I forgot

Me: You didn't put your snack plate in the sink

Him: I forgot

Me: You didn't throw away the trash from your dinner, it's on the computer. You didn't throw away the trash from your other snack, it's on the couch. You didn't clean your room properly. You didn't take your cup downstairs from your drink last night. You left your towel on the floor last night after your shower.

Him: I forgot.

And you know what? I bet he did. But it still drives me nuts.

So after his shower, I hear him rummaging through the drawers in the sink. Then he comes downstairs.

Him: Mom? Where are those scissors with the blue handle?

Me: Why?

Him, bending down to show me the crown of his head: I have something hard in my hair.

Me, freaking out:You have GUM in your hair. THe same GUM you stole from Daddy and the same GUM you had in your mouth when you went in the shower. How did this happen?

Him: I don't know.

Me, trying to avoid uber bitch mode: Now I want you to tell me the truth. The more you lie the more I'll take away. What happened?

Him: I just put it there, I didn't know it would get stuck.

Me, less than pleasant: Well we're probably going to have to shave your F#CKING head now dumbass! All that beautiful hair is going on the floor and you're going to have a buzz cut! Not the nicest, but the best I could do at the time.

Then I google getting gum out of hair and something pops up over and over about using olive oil. I grab my bottle, march him to the bathroom and dump it on his head. After massaging it into his head, I use a flea comb and get it all out. Then I wash it, marveling at how soft and shiny that olive oil made it. Maybe I'll do that myself!

So yeah. Olive oil, it's not just for Italian food anymore.
