Marietta Ghost Tour

Ghosts of Marietta

Should have been names "Ghost BORE". I was so disappointed. Being Jon's birthday weekend I secured a sitter, picked the restaurant which was Thaiswoon and it was deeelish, and reserved a spot on the Ghost tour after dinner. I was so let down. The tour started at 8 and was scheduled for 90 minutes, by 10 o'clock our guide was yammering away and we knew we'd be in it for another 30 so we bailed out early.

The guide was nice enough- but the cheesey black veil and lantern was a bit much. Instead of pointing to a house or church that we were standing in front of, she starts pointing towards Kennesaw Mountain talking about how many people died. No CRAP! I can pick up a history book or google General Sherman's Army Atlanta and find out that. There were no documented cases, just retelling stories. The Roswell Ghost Tour was better, HANDS DOWN.

There's our corny guide in all her wanna be-goth-gone-adult glory. Pointing to this arch beneath the railroad tracks she said "We don't know what these were for, but I'd like to think they're ancient CATACOMBS for the dead soldiers that came through Marietta from Kennesaw Mountain on the train."
One man, who Jon said sounded like Mr.Garrison from South Park said "It looks like decoration to me. Or maybe they stored coal there". Jon looks at me and says "What do you think Mr.Hat?" The rest of the night Jon had me cracking up and the tour was a bust. It was nice to walk around Marietta Square and learn about the old buildings.

I learned more about the activity in this house by watching "Haunted Atlanta" on the history channel.

Jon being his usual photogenic self!
