Xan is still obsessed with all things Star Wars. Last year we came in DEAD LAST during the pinewood derby and it taught him a very good lesson. He put in zero effort and it showed! This year we planned it out a little better. My husband shaved the axels down and Xan and I decorated it. He chose a clone trooper theme. We went to Target and picked up a Lego Star Wars kit. We built it and then took off a few pieces and glued them onto his car. They made us take the fins off the back, but it was FAST! We had the 7th fastest time in the pack! He would have won his heat, but one Dad built the entire car for his son and it beat us. Dude brought it in a glass case and wouldn't let his son TOUCH it. (Remember Douchebag? That's him!)
Xan's car did beat him in one heat and Jon said he's never seen our son smile so big. He's already talking about next year! Jon told Xan at the begining of the race "We just don't want to come in last again" and when they saw how close the race was they both said "I wanna win!"
We did win an award for best design. I almost broke my arm patting myself on the back!

It looks so cool! I can't wait to show my son when he gets home from school. His pack's Derby is next weekend and he has no clue what to do. This will be our first year so we're all unsure what to expect.
I hate people like that! They miss what the whole point of the event is about. Idiot!
