Lifting ugly.

In 98 I began working with a trainer that was a powerlifter, Callahan. He was such an excellent mentor; 20 years of experience, impeccible form, deep knowledge, and an unwaivering passion for his sport. He gave me the hows, the whys, the whens, the whos and the whats. He said training me was like being in school everyday, I'd quiz him on everything we did. I was a spounge, completely obsessed with fitness. He left such an impression on me, there are very few times I squat, deadlift (PULL!) or bench when I don't hear his voice in my head or hear his cheers. He used to cheer for me when I was squatting with that damned broomstick! I really miss working with him sometimes. I don't have the time to invest in training with a group of powerlifters, we'd spend 2 hours + in the gym on squat day. I also feel confident enough that I can train myself and get good results.

Today's workout- clean and jerk- were something that I can honestly say I haven't done in over 10 years. I brought my camera to video myself and self critique. Wow was this junk ugly. After I cleaned it I didn't squat back down, my feet were apart....oh Callahan if you ever see this- don't blame yourself! Just and ugly ugly ugly lift. I really need to join a crossfit gym.

I did the endurance workout first on the spin bike today; 5 minute warm up and 5 down. 10sec on 5 sec recovery X 20!!!! I had the resistance all the way up, any higher the bike would have been off. Doesn't see so horrible at first, but I completely understand why they say rest at least 3 hours before the main site WOD. OUCH OUCH OUCH.

I've noticed some lovely changes in my physique since starting Crossfit. in just over a week I'm down 6 pounds and my abs are popping out again. My sweep is coming back in my quads.....if only the butt would cooperate!

Wow. I'm jealous of the 6 lbs and the abs. I just don't know if I could do the tortuous things that you do to get there. :) I'm such a wimp. My preference for exercise leans toward tap and jazz dancing, but it's been a while since I've done those. I would love to get back into dance.

By the way, just realized I spelled your name wrong on my blog. Sorry bout that! Obviously observation is not my forte!
