Today I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Fell asleep too late woke too early. Legs feel dead, cranky and having pain in odd places. Eating like a truck driver(another story!). Church sermon was incredibly unrelatable and depressing. I found myself picking at my husband on the way home.
The 8 miles I had planned had everything going against it.
I went to the rec area @ the Chattahoochee for 3 miles on the paved trail (ahhh flatness) and then the 2.5 miles out to the main road and 2.5 miles back to my car for a nice even 8.
Blood sugar has not been my friend- although SUGAR has! The more crap I eat the worse I feel and then the more caffeine I drink. Can you say viscous cycle? So I downed a cup of 1/2 espresso and 1/2 decaf followed by 1 cup of egg beaters and a slice of Ezekiel bread. Lots of protein...no simple carbs....good right? So I'm feeling like a million until mile 2. BAM into the wall. I ate the fruit snack (instant sugar) but nothing. Getting sweatier, weaker, dizzier, hungrier..then comes the nausea. Then comes the pounding headache. I hobble through the last mile to my car.
Crap. I ate enough, so what? Caffeine and maybe over training? I jumped back into my training with such enthusiasm I may have started the mileage too high? Dunno. I circuit trained for 30 minutes Saturday (my day off) and trained every day pretty intensely for 10 days. Not sleeping well.
Solutions?
Cut down on the coffee. My usual 1/2 reg 1/2 decaf in the am. That's it.
Diet. Eat those things call fruits and vegetables. Duh.
Afternoon nap. Seriously? Give up that? Maybe just cut back. 20 minutes max followed by activity to wake my booty up.
Bible study/Stress reduction. Yeah I know it sounds odd. Some people meditate. I cannot! I need to read 1 John everyday as a meditation. Allowing myself a little time alone each day to reconnect with God and work on allowing myself to trust in Him completely.
1 glass of wine...or no glass of wine. Amazing how it sneaks up on you. One day you're drinking one glass, by the end of the month you're contemplating your third! UGH!
Training plan for this week: MWF Boot camp/Strength. M is endurance W is hills F straight sprints. 30 minutes in the gym either cross fitting or multi joint stuff. Tuesday attempt #2 @ 8 miles (depends on rain) Thursday: 4 miles. Sat/Sun I had planned on a 5k Sat but I am also helping to take care of my dear friend's diabetic dog and I need to give her a shot about the time the race begins. If I can inject her about 7:45, I can get to the race by 8:15 the latest. Gotta see.
Thanks for trying to run 8 today...but no. See you Tuesday!
