Trackin Down

Day 2 of kids' vacation.... and they've been WONDERFUL! I had to bring them to work with me today, then to the bank, the grocery store and to get gas. Amazing the whole time. I pray that they're finally coming into their own. I once dreaded vacation but this year I'm enjoying it! Yay!

This chick will be hitting up Wal-Mart after boot camp (6:30am!) to finish my shopping. Just a few odds and ends... stocking stuffers, a dvd, a game. Jon and I decided NO presents for each other this year. Keep waiting for this "change" but it appears to be going in the wrong direction. :(

A little stiff after boot camp yesterday and the extra cardio/lunges I did with the evening class. I spent most of the day trying to talk myself out of my run, but I sucked it up and got it done. Changed it up- felt like hitting the track today. 1.25 mile warm up and cool down. 3X800 meters in 3:45, 3:48 and 3:41. SWEEEEETTTTT. I was really hoping to get close to 4 minutes, this was a pleasant surprise. The first quarter was 1:50 and I felt really good, so I just pushed a bit harder and held on. :) First time I've been on the track in YEARS doing any type of speed/tempo stuff. I forgot how much I like it! We'll see how I like it tomorrow, my body's already ticked off. Going to shower and do some yoga.

I have my first race of 2010 January 23. 5k, and it's a really fast course. I'm hoping to run around 24:00, which should be doable according to my speedwork. Two weeks after that is another great course, 10k. A month after that is the half marathon. With my ADHD I don't think I can plan a running plan that far out, so I'm going to take it 4-5 weeks at a time, slowly increasing my long run each week. I'm looking at a possible fall marathon, I really should build a nice base for 6 months to avoid injury. I'm also not crazy about running a marathon in Georgia. The hills are just brutal. Maybe a nice fall marathon at the beach...ahhh....the beach.
